How to Read the Qur'ân in Arabic Course (Level 2: Tajweed)
The Qur'ân is the unchanged Word of Allah, revealed in the Arabic language. It cannot be recited in any other language and so learning and recitation in Arabic is essential. This course introduces the science of recitation (Tajweed) and develops the student so they can recite the words of the Noble Qur'ân.
This course is aimed at those who have undertaken the Level 1 course and thus can read the Qur'ân in Arabic at a very basic level.
The student should already be familiar with the Arabic alphabet in its various forms with the correct pronunciation. They should also be versed in the long and short vowels and the joining up of letters and words.
The course is being offered for free to new Muslims for the full duration, but attendance is required for all of the sessions. It is also necessary to buy a course book which accompanies the course, which is the same as the Level 1 course. There may be a proficiency test required before being accepted onto this course. If you can fulfil the criteria above, the only other thing that we request is commitment to homework and punctuality.
